Acceptable Use Policy

1. The short version

Don't ask MakeACalc to generate a calculator that gives medical, legal, or safety-critical numbers someone might act on; don't use it to collect sensitive personal information; don't impersonate someone else's brand or a real person; and don't use it for anything illegal. The full list is below. Our systems check every request against this list before generating anything, and reject or ask for clarification if something doesn't clear it.

2. Prohibited calculators

You may not use MakeACalc to generate, and we may reject or remove, a calculator that:

1. Gives medical guidance someone could act on — dosage or dosing calculations, drug interaction or tapering schedules, fertility window predictions, diagnostic scoring, or any other clinical number.
2. Predicts a legal outcome or sentencing as if authoritative.
3. Gives regulated financial advice — specific investment recommendations. (General arithmetic — loan payments, tax math, pricing formulas — is fine.)
4. Collects sensitive credentials or identifiers — passwords, card numbers, government IDs, or one-time passcodes.
5. Calculates firearms, explosives, or ammunition specifications.
6. Involves structural or load-bearing engineering where a wrong answer risks physical failure.
7. Calculates radiation, chemical exposure, or toxicity thresholds.
8. Produces an individual risk score for insurance, credit, or employment eligibility.
9. Calculates gambling odds or betting systems.
10. Produces diving decompression tables.
11. Is a disguised data-collection form — a "calculator" whose real purpose is harvesting personal information rather than computing something.
12. Uses a third party's trademark in its title or branding without authorization (e.g. naming a calculator after a company you don't represent).
13. Impersonates a real, identifiable person, or targets harassment, hate, or discrimination at a person or protected group.
14. Is sexually explicit, regardless of how it's framed.
15. Is deliberately deceptive — framed to make a number look more favorable than the real math supports.

3. What happens if a request is rejected

Our system checks every prompt before generating anything. If it's rejected, nothing is generated and no usage is counted against your plan. If a request is ambiguous rather than clearly prohibited, we may ask a clarifying question instead of rejecting outright. Rejections currently have no in-app appeal process; contact hello@makeacalc.com if you believe something was rejected in error.

4. Reporting a calculator / takedown requests

If you find a MakeACalc-generated calculator that violates this policy, impersonates you or your brand, or should come down for any other reason, email hello@makeacalc.com. Include the calculator's URL. We aim to review takedown requests within 48 hours, and will typically remove or disable the calculator first and investigate after, rather than leave a plausible violation live during a lengthy review.

5. Enforcement

Violating this policy may result in a rejected generation, removal of an existing calculator, or suspension or termination of your account, at our discretion, per our Terms of Service.
