Privacy Policy

1. Who this covers

This policy explains what MakeACalc ("we," "us") collects about you when you create an account, generate a calculator, or make a purchase. MakeACalc is operated by CWK Solution, based in India.

Grievance Officer (under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023): Suman Kumar, hello@makeacalc.com. We acknowledge grievances within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days, as required by India's IT Rules 2021.

2. What we collect

• Account data, via Clerk: your email address, and if you sign in with Google, your name and Google account identifier. Clerk processes this data outside India (a US-based service) — by creating an account you consent to this cross-border transfer.
• Payment data: we do not see or store your card details. Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record; we receive your name, email, and transaction metadata (which plan you bought), not your card number.
• What you generate: the prompts you submit and the calculators produced from them, stored so you can view, embed, and manage your own calculators.
• Basic technical data: IP address and request metadata, kept briefly for abuse prevention and rate-limiting, not used to build a profile of you.

We do not currently collect data from anyone who merely uses a calculator you've embedded elsewhere (fills in numbers, sees a result) — that interaction happens entirely in their browser and is not sent to us.

3. Why we collect it

• Account data: to let you sign in and to associate your calculators and plan with you.
• Payment data: to process purchases and grant the plan you paid for.
• Prompts and generated calculators: to provide the core product — you create something, we store it so it keeps working.
• Technical data: to prevent abuse (e.g. rate limits) and keep the service reliable.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your prompts or generated calculators to train AI models beyond what our AI provider's own standard API terms allow (which, at the time of writing, does not include using API inputs for model training).

4. Who we share it with

• Clerk (authentication) — processes your account data, outside India.
• Dodo Payments (billing) — processes your payment data as our merchant of record.
• Anthropic (AI generation) — receives the text of your prompt to generate a calculator. It does not receive your account identity, email, or payment information.
• Cloudflare (hosting/infrastructure) — stores your data (D1 database, KV) as our infrastructure provider.

We do not share your data with anyone else, and we do not sell it.

5. How long we keep it

Your account data and generated calculators are kept for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we delete your account data and your private calculators within 30 days; calculators you've made public and embedded elsewhere may continue to be reachable by their existing link/embed for a short period after deletion, since we can't reach into third-party sites to remove an iframe — a takedown request (see our Acceptable Use Policy) is the fastest way to force an individual calculator offline sooner.

6. Your rights

Under DPDP, you can ask us to confirm what personal data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it (subject to §5's limits on already-embedded public calculators). Contact the Grievance Officer above to exercise these rights.

7. Age requirement

MakeACalc is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18; if you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we'll investigate and delete it.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated date.
